Thumb-less baby mittens
I knit these thumb-less baby mittens for my former co-worker's baby, let's call her Deliciousness. I hesitate to call this a pattern because it's so simple to whip up a pair looking at the photograph alone. So, let's say, here are some knitting guidelines, which frees me from calculating gauge and listing abbreviations and all that.
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, 55% Merino wool, 33% Microfibre, 12% Cashmere, color #104/orange. About 10 grams/30 yards.
Needles: Double-pointed needles in sizes US 3 (3.25 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm).
Finished size: 3.75” in circumference and 2.75” deep (plus 1.5” ribbing).
Guidelines: Using two US 3 needles held together, cast on 24 sts. Join into round, being careful not to twist sts. Work 2 x 2 ribbing (k2, p2) all the way around until 1.5" from cast-on. Switch to US 4 needles and work in stockinette until 1.75" from ribbing. *SSK, k6, repeat from * three times (21). Work 1 round even. *SSK, k5, repeat from * three times (18). Work 1 round even. *SSK, k4, repeat from * three times (15). *SSK, k3, repeat from * three times (12). *SSK, k2, repeat from * three times (9). *SSK, k1, repeat from * three times (6). Break yarn leaving a tail; draw tail through remaining 6 sts and tighten. Weave in ends.
